Week 1: Anchored in Jesus (Salvation & Identity)
Day 1 — Why Jesus?
Scripture Reading:
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 5:6–8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Devotional Thought
Everyone anchors their life to something — success, relationships, possessions, or their own abilities. But sooner or later, every one of those anchors slips. When storms come, when life feels uncertain, when we fail, or when we hurt others, we realize our anchors can’t hold us.
The good news of the gospel is that Jesus offers a different kind of anchor — one that is firm and secure. God loved you so deeply that He sent His Son to rescue you, not because you earned it, but because He wanted you. Jesus chose the cross so you could know the love of God personally, not from a distance. Becoming a Christian is not about trying harder, fixing yourself, or following a list of rules. It begins with one simple decision: trusting Jesus — trusting His love, His forgiveness, His leadership, and His desire to walk with you each day.
If you’ve wondered, “Why would Jesus want me?” the answer is simple: Because He loves you, and He came to save you long before you ever reached for Him.
Practice for Today
Take two minutes and write down one reason you want to follow Jesus in this season of your life. Be honest. Keep it simple. Let this be the first anchor point in your journey.
Reflection Question
What do you think it means to “anchor” your life in Jesus rather than in yourself?
