Week 1: Anchored in Jesus
(Hope, Salvation & Identity)
Day 3 — A New Creation
Scripture Reading:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.”
Ezekiel 36:26-27 NIV
Devotional Thought
Do you remember being a kid and outgrowing or wearing out an old pair of shoes? What a great feeling it was to get a new pair of shoes that fit!
Have you ever had something in your life that just didn’t fit anymore — a job, a relationship, a version of yourself you outgrew? At some point, you realize you can’t keep living the same way, even if you don’t yet know what comes next.
That’s a little like what happens when someone begins following Jesus.
The Bible says that when you put your trust in Christ, something real changes inside you. Not overnight perfection. Not instant clarity. But a deep, internal shift. Scripture calls it becoming “a new creation.” That means your story doesn’t have to be defined by who you were, what you’ve done, or what’s been done to you.
God doesn’t just patch up your old life — He begins something new. He gives you a new heart, new desires, and a new direction. The old patterns don’t disappear overnight, but they no longer get the final word. You’re not stuck being who you’ve always been.
This change often happens quietly. You might notice it in small ways: how you respond differently, what you care about, or what no longer satisfies you. Like breaking in a new pair of shoes, it can feel unfamiliar at first — but it’s a sign you’re growing into something that actually fits.
You’re not becoming someone else. You’re becoming who you were meant to be.
Reflection Question
What part of your old story do you sense God inviting you to release as you step into something new?
Practice for Today
Take a moment to reflect and pray:
“God, where are You inviting me into something new?”
Write down one area of your life where you sense God beginning to reshape or renew you.
