Anchored Life Next Steps
Day 31 — Celebration & Water Baptism
Scripture Reading:
“Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Romans 6:3-4 NIV
“Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.”
Acts 2:41 NIV
Devotional Thought
This journey doesn’t end with more information. It ends with a moment.
From the very beginning, people who chose to follow Jesus marked that decision with something physical and public: baptism. Not because they had everything figured out—but because they were stepping into a new direction.
Baptism is simple. You go under the water, and you come back up. It’s a picture. Going under represents letting go of your old way of life—the parts shaped by shame, fear, control, or self-reliance. Coming back up represents starting fresh—choosing to live connected to Jesus, with a new identity and new hope.
In the early church, people were baptized right away. It wasn’t about proving they were “good enough.” It was about saying, “This is who I’m choosing to follow.”
That’s what this moment is about.
Over the last 30 days, something has been forming in you. You’ve explored who Jesus is, how God speaks, what it means to live with purpose, and why community matters. You’ve taken steps—some small, some meaningful—and you’ve opened yourself to growth.
Baptism is simply a way to say that out loud. To mark the moment. To celebrate what God has begun.
It’s not a graduation. It’s not pressure. It’s an invitation.
An invitation to say, “I belong to Jesus, and I’m choosing to walk with Him from here.”
That’s why we celebrate. Because new life deserves to be marked.
Practice for Today
If you’ve decided to follow Jesus but haven’t been baptized since making that choice, talk with a pastor or group leader about taking that step.
If you’ve already been baptized, take a few minutes to thank God for what that moment represented—and consider what it looks like to recommit your life today.
Reflection Questions
What does baptism represent to you personally, and what step forward do you sense you’re being invited to take next?
