Week 2: Anchored in the Word
Day 9 — Why the Bible Can Be Trusted

Scripture Reading:
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭19‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Devotional Thought
OK, so if the Bible is more than an ancient religious text, many people wonder, “How do I know the Bible is trustworthy?” That’s a good question — and God is not afraid of it.

Scripture says that all Scripture is God-breathed. That means the Bible didn’t come from human ideas or opinions. God inspired real people, in real places, over many centuries, to write His truth in a way we could understand. 66 books written over 1,500 years by over 40 authors resulted in one unified story: God rescuing humanity through Jesus.

There’s a reason why the Bible is the best-selling book of all time. The Bible has also stood the test of time. Empires rose and fell, cultures changed, languages shifted — yet Scripture remains. It has been copied, preserved, studied, and defended with more accuracy and consistency than any ancient text in history.

But the greatest evidence isn’t historical — it’s personal. When you read the Bible, something happens inside you. It convicts you in ways you didn’t expect. It comforts you in ways you can’t explain. It guides you in ways only God could orchestrate.

People don’t trust the Bible because they understand everything in it. They trust it because, through it, they encounter the God who knows them.

Reflection Questions
Where are you in your journey with the Bible? If you don’t yet fully trust it as the “Word of God,” will you invite God to show you by speaking to you personally through it?

Practice for Today
Ask God a simple prayer before reading Scripture today:
“Lord, help me trust Your Word.”

Then read Psalm 19:7–9 slowly and reflect on what it says about God’s truth.
