Scripture Reading:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬-‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Devotional Thought

Have you ever surprised yourself by how you reacted to something—snapping, shutting down, or stressing out when you wish you’d responded with patience or peace?

Most of us want to be more loving, calm, and steady. We just don’t know how to become that way, especially when life presses in.

When God’s Spirit moves in your life, He starts growing something new in you—something you can’t manufacture on your own. This is what the Bible calls the “fruit of the Spirit.”

Galatians 5:22–23 lists it: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These aren’t just personality traits or “self-help goals.” They’re evidence that God is at work in you.

Jesus said, “Apart from Me, you can do nothing.” That means change doesn’t come from trying harder—it comes from staying connected to Him. As you spend time with Jesus and follow Him day by day, the Spirit reshapes your desires, reactions, and attitudes. It might feel slow sometimes, but it’s real, steady, and lasting.

Think about fruit on a tree: it doesn’t appear overnight. It develops quietly, naturally, and consistently. Your role isn’t to force it—it’s to stay connected to Jesus and let Him do the work. And Philippians 1:6 promises that God will finish what He starts.

Practice for Today

Ask God’s Spirit:

“Which fruit are You growing in me right now?”

Write down what comes to mind and thank Him for it.

Reflection Questions

Which part of God’s fruit—love, joy, peace, or another—do you most want to see grow in your life right now?
