Devotional Thought
Have you ever had a moment where you felt a quiet nudge—pause before you spoke, reach out to someone, take a different path—and later realized it mattered?
Most of life is made up of small decisions, and often we don’t recognize how much those moments shape us.
Walking in the Spirit might sound strange, but really it just means living your day aware that God is with you and open to following His nudges. It’s not reserved for “super-Christians”—it’s the normal way of life Jesus offers.
Romans 8:14 says we are “led by the Spirit.” That means God can guide your thoughts, decisions, conversations, and steps. He’ll nudge you away from things that drag you down and toward what actually gives life.
Galatians 5 puts it simply: “Walk by the Spirit, and you won’t be controlled by selfish desires.” Notice the order—walking with God comes first; change comes next. You don’t beat yourself up trying harder; you stick close to His voice and let Him guide you.
Walking with God is small, daily choices: pausing to pray, thinking before speaking, remembering a verse, noticing a sense of peace pointing you the right way. Over time, you’ll start recognizing His nudges more easily, and your life will naturally reflect His presence.
Practice for Today
Pause three times today—morning, afternoon, and evening—and simply pray:
“Holy Spirit, guide me right now.”
Pay attention to any small nudge, thought, or feeling of direction.
